The owner of Hempel is weighing the sale of a stake in the Danish coatings company that produces the trendy Farrow & Ball paints, people with knowledge of the matter said.

The Hempel Foundation is working with an adviser as it explores strategic options for the company, which could be valued at more than €3 billion ($3.2 billion) in any transaction, according to the people. A minority stake in Hempel would likely attract interest from private equity firms, they said.
