Northern Ireland’s police chief Simon Byrne resigned after weeks of political pressure came to a head.
Byrne stepped down after an emergency meeting of the Northern Ireland Policing Board on Monday, having previously refused to do so in the face of a no-confidence motion submitted by the Democratic Unionist Party following the mistaken release of officers’ personal information.
