A court in Denmark sentenced a Russian citizen to three years in prison and deportation for attempted gross fraud and forgery in a $3.5 billion scam attempt against the Danish central bank.
The 53-year-old man falsified documents and pretended to represent an investment company in order to trick the central bank into paying him money, police said in a statement on Wednesday. He was arrested last year after sending multiple emails and even showing up at the Copenhagen-based bank in person.
