North Korea Braces Along With Seoul as Typhoon Khanun Lands

Typhoon Khanun is heading close to Seoul after landing in the southern part of South Korea early Thursday, with the threat of lashing winds and torrential rains across the Korean Peninsula.
The storm was around 30 kilometers northeast of South Korea’s capital, home to about half the country’s population, as of 10 p.m. local time and moving northwest at 21 kilometers per hour, according to the Korea Meteorological Administration. Maximum wind speeds weakened to 72 kilometers per hour from 104 kph earlier.
