Italians’ electricity consumption has shot up as people stay indoors and use air conditioning and electric fans to protect themselves against record temperatures in Europe.

Italy’s seven-day rolling average power use is the highest since 2017, according to Bloomberg calculations based on available data from power grid operator Terna SpA.
