The Norwegian government will offer up for sale the additional salmon farming capacity that went unsold after the country’s biggest aquaculture companies, incensed by a contentious tax proposal, snubbed an October auction for licenses.

The Nordic nation plans to take closed bids in September for 8,243 metric tons of maximum permitted biomass, according to a proposalBloomberg Terminal from the Trade, Industry and Fisheries Ministry. The ministry is seeking comments on a proposal for the design of an auction for the remaining capacity from the 2022 allocation round.
