A British Member of Parliament whose alleged misconduct helped trigger Boris Johnson’s downfall a year ago, was charged with abuse of power by a parliamentary ethics committee, which recommended an eight-week suspension that is likely to trigger a special election for the seat.
The committee found that Chris Pincher, who sits in the House of Commons as an independent, groped two people in June 2022, conduct that was “completely inappropriate” and “profoundly damaging to the individuals concerned,” it said in a report published Thursday. Pincher resigned as a senior Conservative official last year in the wake of the allegations.
