When Sam Bankman-Fried’s empire crumbled, it crumbled quickly. On Nov. 11, 2022, less than two weeks after the leaked Alameda Research balance sheet went public, FTX declared bankruptcy. Its new CEO, John J. Ray III, who had overseen the bankruptcy of Enron Corp., said FTX was an even bigger mess.
