France’s power grid operator warned that potential bottlenecks may jeopardize the country’s plan to quicken the development of offshore wind after its Dutch peer TenneT Holding BV placed a “gigantic” order for cables to connect its projects.
“Some operators like TenneT have placed gigantic orders, hence it’s saturating production capacities somewhat,” Regis Boigegrain, executive director in charge of interconnections and sea networks at French grid operator Reseau de Transport d’Electricite, said in a presentation on Tuesday. This should be a wake-up call for all grid operators, he said.
