First Tropical Wave of the Season Emerges: Weather Watch

In the Atlantic, the first tropical wave of the season drifted off the coast of Africa and into the ocean Monday, according to a tweet by the National Hurricane Center’s Tropical Analysis and Forecast Branch. It will be the first of about 60 waves that will cross the basin in coming months — based on the average of previous years — and can be thought of as the seeds of disaster.
