SpaceX plans to launch its massive Starship rocket into space on Monday in the first major test of the new system, a critical milestone in Elon Musk’s quest to bring humans to destinations as far away as Mars.
The launch is currently targeted for around 9:20 a.m. New York time, and it’s been almost two decades in the making. As early as 2005, Musk, SpaceX’s chief executive officer, hinted at plans to build a giant rocket codenamed “BFR.”
