The chairperson of Namibia’s state oil company, who was arrested earlier this week on drug-dealing charges, denied being involved in criminal activity in a case that may complicate the southwest African nation’s ambitions of becoming a crude producer.
“I’m obviously not dealing in drugs, I am not a drug dealer, neither am I taking drugs,” National Petroleum Corp. of Namibia’s Chair Jennifer Comalie said by phone, adding that the company had been plagued by infighting and she’s been receiving anonymous threats. “I am hoping this will be resolved as soon as possible.”
