France is going to enforce water restrictions as the driest winter on record puts the country in a “state of alert” for droughts this summer, Ecological Transition Minister Christophe Bechu said in an interview in Le Journal du Dimanche newspaper.
Bechu will gather representatives in the regions on Monday to ask them to “anticipate” and “take the measures that allow to save water now,” he told the newspaper. Measures could include issuing local restriction orders for individuals and farmers where necessary.
