Biden Administration Defies Own Playbook on Homelessness
In evicting a tent encampment in DC’s McPherson Square, city and federal officials didn’t follow the recommendations of the US Interagency Council on Homelessness.

On Wednesday, officers from the National Park Service and Washington, DC’s police department evicted dozens of people from the District’s largest homeless encampment. As crews of workers loaded abandoned tents into trash trucks, two people who refused to leave were arrested.
The scene played out in McPherson Square, just blocks from the White House. But housing activists say the tactics fly in the face of the Biden administration’s own pledge.
