Norway’s government proposed to extend a support program that shields households from most of the impact of high electricity prices through 2024.
Subsidies which now cover 90% of the additional cost for power prices exceeding 70 ore (7 cents) a kilowatt-hour will be prolonged through 2024, instead of an earlier plan to reduce that level to 80% for the April-to-September period, under the proposal presented by Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Store, Finance Minister Trygve Slagsvold Vedum and Petroleum and Energy Minister Terje Aasland on Wednesday.
