Germany to Speed Up Approvals for Renewable Energy Projects

Germany’s ruling coalition has approved an acceleration of key renewable and infrastructure projects with the aim of restricting legal appeals procedures, according to a Parliament statement.
The government wants to triple renewables capacity so that green power reaches 80% of production by 2030, but long approval periods have slowed progress. Wind power projects can take as long as seven years to realize, partly because of obstacles created by local opposition and courts.
