The US Secret Service is planning a new guardhouse with a design that embodies the essence of Palm Beach.
The town’s Landmarks Preservation Commission board members reviewed a request on Jan. 18 to construct a 232 square-foot guardhouse at the main gate of Mar-a-Lago, the Florida resort and national historic landmark owned by former President Donald Trump. The proposed one-story guardhouse pavilion, intended to protect security personnel, would be located along the main entry drive off of South County Road, and architects at REG are hoping to keep the integrity of the historic design of surrounding buildings.
