Mapping the Death of NYC’s Cheap Slice
Inflation is ratcheting up the price of pizza in New York City. One man tracked more than 450 purchases over eight years to quantify the troubling trend.

When Liam Quigley was in middle school in Manhattan in the early 2000s, he could grab a slice of pizza and a soda for $3.50, $4 tops.
“I had $20 a week for allowance,” he recalled. “So I would go to the pizza place instead of Wendy’s, for example, because at Wendy’s you would walk out the door spending $5 for lunch. But the pizza place had a more competitive deal.”
