One of the scariest things about the collapse of Buffalo Bills safety Damar Hamlin during a primetime National Football League game was just how routine it all looked.
There was no blow to the head. No blindside tackle. None of the worst violence that the most-watched US sports league has sought to eliminate amid mounting scrutiny over players’ health and safety.
