Scottish independence is gaining support amid an increasingly acrimonious standoff between Edinburgh and London over whether the nation has a right to another referendum on leaving the UK.
A YouGov poll for the Times newspaper found 47% would vote in favor of independence, an increase of four percentage points from October, while 43% backed remaining in the UK. When undecided and non-voters are excluded, support for independence sits at 53% versus 47% for the union.
