New York Yankees slugger Aaron Judge re-signed with the team for $360 million over nine years, according to multiple reports, in a new contract that would be a record for a Major League Baseball free agent.

The total value of the deal, earlier reported by the Athletic, would surpass Bryce Harper’s 13-year, $330 million agreement with the Philadelphia Phillies in 2019. It’s the largest-ever annual payout for a position player — the Yankees’ cross-town rivals, the New York Mets, gave pitcher Max Scherzer the biggest per-annum deal in baseball history ahead of the 2022 season with a $43 million salary.
