Sudan’s military and a group of political opponents agreed on a US-brokered preliminary deal aimed at resolving the crisis caused by last year’s coup that will pave the way for a civilian prime minister.

Political parties and the military decided on a “new constitutional declaration,” members of the Forces for Freedom and Change, a major opposition coalition, said in a statement on Wednesday. Talks were facilitated by the US, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates and the UK.
