German Economy Minister Robert Habeck is optimistic on the cost of gas in the coming year, even as benchmark futures suggest prices may stay elevated.
“I think that we have a fair chance of getting through the winter,” he said at an event in Berlin on Thursday. Mild weather in Europe has muted demand in recent weeks, allowing countries including his own to make significant gains in filling up storage.
