As generations of drinkers will tell you, whisky is something that needs no accompaniment—give or take an optional ice cube or two.

The idea of pairing the heady amber liquid with food seems like an insult to whisky. There’s high potential for the food to be, at best, a minor player alongside a spirit that doesn’t want company.
