Watching Ticket to Paradise, the new starry theatrical rom-com, you may occasionally find your mind drifting. Hey, you might think, if nothing else, George Clooney and Julia Roberts got a great vacation out of this experience. I bet they had fun.
And indeed, onscreen, they’re having a grand time. The two are able to turn on that exquisite movie star sparkle, especially when acting opposite each other. When Roberts yelps in a surprise giggle, it triggers a synapse in the brain that immediately floods the cortex with memories of Pretty Woman, My Best Friend’s Wedding, and Notting Hill. There’s a similar sensation when Clooney monologues over a glass of liquor. Hello, Danny Ocean? Is that you?
