The mayors of Lviv and Bucha — Ukrainian cities that have suffered direct attacks in Russia’s war against Ukraine — delivered a message on Oct. 11 to their international peers in a livestream address to the CityLab conference in Amsterdam: Support for Ukraine is vital to protecting democracy across Europe.

Moments afterward, Russia struck Lviv once again with missiles, taking down critical infrastructure and affecting power across 30% of the city, according to a series of tweets from Lviv Mayor Andriy Sadovyi.
