CityLab Day One Concludes With a ‘Walk With Amal’

At the conclusion of day one of the CityLab conference, attendees walked the streets of central Amsterdam with the not-so-little Little Amal puppet, a 10-year-old refugee girl created to raise awareness and compassion for the plight of children fleeing conflict and persecution. 

Prior to that, a discussion on mental health looked at ways cities can empower residents’ well-being. While studies have shown that urban areas are associated with higher rates of mental-health illness, cities are also opportunities if designed in the right way.
