President Joe Biden will host the first-ever US-Pacific Island Country Summit in Washington on Sept. 28-29, the White House announced Friday.

The summit will demonstrate the US’s “deep and enduring partnership with Pacific Island countries and reflect “broadening and deepening cooperation on key issues such as climate change, pandemic response, economic recovery, maritime security, environmental protection, and advancing a free and open Indo-Pacific,” White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre said in a statement.
