South Sudan Leaders Extend Government’s Mandate Until 2025

South Sudanese leaders agreed to extend a transitional government by two years after failing to resolve differences that would allow for an election.
The conditions of the peace agreement in the oil-producing East African nation, implemented in 2020, will remain in place until February 2025, including the power-sharing government with Salva Kiir as president and former rebel leader Riek Machar as his deputy.
