S&P 500 Executives Haven't Been This Worried About the Economy Since 2020

Earnings conference calls during the month of July showed that a possible recession was an increasingly popular topic for S&P 500 executives as the US economy shrank for the second straight quarter. With the exception of April 2020, company leaders discussed the slowing economy more this July than any other month over the last five years. Interest rates were among the top five fastest growing call topics for the second month in a row, while inflation and consumer spending continued to be of interest as well.
