New Jersey Governor Murphy Calls Official’s Hit-and-Run ‘Unacceptable’

  • Jersey City councilwoman Amy DeGise refuses to resign
  • She kept driving after food deliveryman was knocked off bike

A Jersey City councilwoman displayed “unacceptable” behavior when she struck a bicyclist with her car and left the scene, Governor Phil Murphy said Monday. He stopped short of calling for her resignation, as some have demanded.

Traffic-cam video of the July 19 incident shows a car driven by Councilwoman Amy DeGise striking food deliveryman Andrew Black as he rode through a red light at Martin Luther King Drive and Forrest Street. The car continued without slowing or stopping. Black, 29, suffered cuts and an ankle injury.
