An expanse of heat will spread across the central and eastern US, bringing New York its longest streak of hot weather of the season.

Temperatures in Central Park are forecast to reach 93 degrees Fahrenheit (34 degrees Celsius) Tuesday and remain in the 90s through the weekend, according to Andrew Orrison, a forecaster at the US Weather Prediction Center.
