Costs for everything from particle board to steel have surged this year in the UK. Across the board, prices for the items necessary to remodel or repair homes were up 26% in May compared to a year earlier, according to recent government data . The greatest increases showed up in the price for concrete reinforcing bars, which are crucial for construction and jumped 65%.
