Japan put Tokyo under a power crunch advisory for a fourth consecutive day, asking businesses and homes to curb electricity use at least through Thursday amid a continued outlook for blazing heat.
The capital should be able to overcome Wednesday’s power supply issue due to conservation efforts, the trade ministry said in a statement. But temperatures are forecast to remain elevated, as Tokyo is seeing the most severe heatwave for June in records going back to 1875, according to the Japan Weather Association.
