Women reached 35% of boards seats for the first time in May among members of the S&P 500 banks index as more men than women left boards.
Overall, the number of women directors at the banks was unchanged in May from April. The average number of women directors remained at 4.7 and the average board size was 13.3. The percentage of female directorships rose to 35% from 34.9%. That compares with 31.7% for the S&P 500 Index.
