The U.K. government knew about and authorized payments allegedly used as bribes to win contracts with the Saudi Arabian military, defense lawyers said during a London corruption trial.
The Serious Fraud Office alleges that middlemen, Jeffrey Cook and John Mason, paid as much as 9.7 million pounds ($12 million) in bribes through an Airbus SE unit to win U.K. government contracts with the Saudi Arabian military between 2007 and 2012.
