Germany Weighs Mobility Grant as Gasoline Rebate Rebuffed

Germany is discussing subsidies for personal mobility and energy as Europe’s governments look to take the sting out of rising fuel prices and retain voter support for sanctions against Russia.

The country’s ruling coalition of Social Democrats, Green Party and Free Democratic Party is weighing a subsidy of between 20 euros ($22) and 50 euros per month, with the highest payouts for the lowest-income groups, Bild am Sonntag reported. High-income households would be excluded.
