Peter Schiff Spurs Blowback for Tweet Scorning Zelenskiy’s T-Shirt

Most of the backlash focused on the fact that Zelenskiy’s wardrobe choice was irrelevant. It also underscored how social norms over what’s professional have shifted.

Stock broker Peter Schiff became a lightning rod for online ire after criticizing Volodymyr Zelenskiy’s clothing during the Ukrainian president’s video appearance before U.S. Congress.

Schiff, the chief executive officer of Euro Pacific Capital, suggested in a tweet that Zelenskiy should have worn a suit instead of a t-shirt during the rare wartime address, even though “times are hard.” Among those who retorted were crypto billionaire Mike Novogratz, who called for Schiff to have some respect for Ukrainians who are “fighting for their lives.”
