Boris Johnson said he’s optimistic Saudi Arabia will pump more oil to help lower energy prices following Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, though he couldn’t give any assurance the kingdom would do so.
“There’s certainly an understanding that there is an interest for Saudi Arabia -- for all oil-producing countries -- that the global economy is not damaged by the current spikes,” the U.K. prime minister said in a pooled TV clip after meeting with Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman in Riyadh on Wednesday. “There was an understanding of the need to ensure stability in global oil markets.”
