Europe to Spend Millions to Shift to Biking, Walking
More European countries have announced grants to promote cycling and walking. This includes Italy, which has put aside $682 million as part of its major European Union-supported transport infrastructure recovery plan to build cycle lanes. The U.K. has also expanded the active travel spending package announced in 2020 by 30% to $458 million for cycling infrastructure and schemes that encourage walking. These investments will help passengers shift away from vehicles and cut emissions from roads.
