TotalEnergies SE and Chevron Corp. will pull out of Myanmar, where the companies have operated for decades, to protest against the junta’s continued violence against civilians since last year’s military coup.

The decision marks a victory for human-rights campaigners, who have put pressure on both energy giants to stop bankrolling the junta through their joint ventures in the Southeast Asian nation.
