Turkish leader Recep Tayyip Erdogan signaled an emerging thaw with Israel after more than a decade of tensions, throwing his support behind a major energy project involving the once-close allies and floating the idea of a visit by Israel’s figurehead president, Isaac Herzog.

“There are talks we are having with Mr. Herzog, he may pay a visit to Turkey,” Erdogan said Tuesday in Ankara at a joint press conference with Serbia’s president, Aleksandar Vucic. He didn’t elaborate on when a visit might happen.
