The House passed legislation Tuesday that would ban goods from China’s Xinjiang region from coming to the U.S. unless companies can prove that they’ve not been made with forced labor. The measure is aimed at punishing China for the alleged oppression of the Uyghur Muslims.

“The ongoing genocide perpetrated by the Chinese government against the Uyghur people and other Muslim minorities is a challenge to the conscience of the entire world,” House Speaker Nancy Pelosi said in a statement before the bill passed on a voice vote.
