The Communist Party published a landmark document that sets up President Xi Jinping to potentially rule for life, and will dictate the course of the world’s second-largest economy.
Chinese state media on Friday released the full 36,000-word text of a historical resolution passed by leaders last week in Beijing, a document that spans from the ruling party’s turbulent beginnings to Xi’s plan to bolster the country’s stature as a major global power. China had been awaiting the doctrine since the end of a four-day Central Committee gathering, only for it to be released shortly after Xi wrapped up a virtual summit with President Joe Biden.
