‘Bomb Cyclone’ Snuffs Out California’s Massive Dixie Wildfire

A powerful Pacific storm called a “bomb cyclone” that drenched Northern California on Sunday has effectively extinguished the second-largest wildfire in state history.

The Dixie Fire, which burned for more than three months in the northern Sierras and torched nearly 1 million acres, was 100% contained as of Monday, according to wildfire tracking site InciWeb.
