Over the weekend, U.S. Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen once again dismissed the idea of minting a trillion-dollar coin as an alternative to raising the debt ceiling in order to avoid a default.

But what are the politics of the coin option? In a poll of 1,967 American adults conducted by Harris, 10% of respondents have heard “a lot” about the coin option, 18% have heard quite a bit, 31% have heard not too much and 41% have heard “nothing at all.”
