Local papers splashed the crisis across their homepages. News apps pinged that Prime Minister Boris Johnson was considering sending in the army to ensure people would be able to put gas in their cars. Brexit supporters took to Twitter attributing the crisis to Covid. Remain supporters blamed Brexit. It all led to the hashtag #petrolcrisis trending on social media.
