A breakneck rise in the cost of raw materials and shortages of key components are creating logistical nightmares for a growing number of industrial manufacturers.

Mercedes-Benz maker Daimler AG and Dutch paint producer Akzo Nobel NV, which supplies Apple Inc. and BMW AG, on Wednesday became the latest to warn about supply-chain disruptions and price increases for customers as they grapple with a surge in demand for their products.
