G-20 Nations Gave $670B a Year in Fossil-Fuel Aid

G-20 governments provided an average of $670 billion a year in direct support to coal, oil, gas and fossil-fueled power between 2015 and 2019. This funding totaled some $3.3 trillion over the five year period - enough to finance 4,232 gigawatts of new solar power plants, at today's prices. That is more than 3.5 times the size of the U.S. electricity mix. Furthermore, given the varying levels of transparency with which nations provide such funds, these figures are probably an under-count.
