Paris Will Keep Its Covid-Era Cafe Terraces

New rules allow outdoor drinking and dining in parking spots every summer — and in some cases year round.

In Paris, many of the temporary café terraces set up in the city’s streets during the pandemic could be here to stay.

So suggests new guidance published June 14 by the city, which provides a legal route for the 9,800 Paris cafes, bars and restaurants that set up short-term terraces to facilitate more outdoor drinking and dining to return every summer — and in some cases remain permanently.
